There you may search the catalog, use the online databases, ask a reference question, or renew, reserve or request a book. .

The Wethersfield Public Library will close to the public at 5 p.m. September 16 to move to the newly renovated ground floor and to completely empty the upper two floors so asbestos abatement and renovation can take place there.

While the Library is closed, all staff will be

  • moved into temporary work areas on the ground (lower) floor,
  • a "small popular library" will be readied on the ground floor, while
  • all remaining furniture and collections on the upper two floors are packed and stored.

Programs for adults and children will continue without interruption and will be held at various locations including Town Hall, Community Center, and Nature Center.

The "small popular library" will open to the public sometime in October. It will contain all new fiction and nonfiction books, all videos, DVD’s, music CD’s, paperback books, business resources and newspapers, as well as current magazines and a selection of our large print, audio book, reference, teen and children’s collections. There will be two computers for searching the catalog, but no public seating or Internet access. This small space will be staffed by a reference librarian, a children’s librarian, and two circulation assistants.

Updates on construction progress and other renovation news will be available in further news releases and on our website, www.wethersfieldlibrary.org.

[This arrangement may last three months or longer until the renovation of the library is completed. Ed]
