Wethersfield High School Eagles Soar!
On Jan. 30, 2002, Wethersfield.Net was alerted by involved and concerned citizens to an important event and accomplishment by a group of our WHS students not covered by the Hartford Courant or any other local medium, print or otherwise, up to that point. These WHS Eagles won a state-wide engineering, invention competition sponsored by JETS, underwritten by a grant from United Technologies Corporation and held at the University of New Haven, on Friday, January 25, 2002. Their winning entry was "The Talon," an electrical - mechanical reaching and retrieving tool. Read the following copyrighted article by the New Haven Register, published Saturday, January 26, 2002. Click HERE. On 2/1/2002, the article was also republished by the Wethersfield POST The WHS team, its mentors and WHS advisor Sue Fennelly were interviewed live on "Wethersfield LIVE," by Rick Garrey and Mary Beth Maluccio. This was presented on Wethersfield Community TV, Cox Cable Channel 14, Friday evening, March 8, 2002, at 9:00 PM. Wethersfield.net was there too. Images from that hour-long show are presented here. If you missed that TV program and if you have a broadband connection (DSL or Cable), you might want to take a look at a Ms PowerPoint Show (PPS), a Mascot Production by Devin, showing the WHS team winning the competition.
