Wethersfield, CT, 2.7.2002 -
The Richard M. Keane Foundation has recently announced its next major regional event, intended to move it closer to achieving its goals of honoring its namesake and serving the community of Wethersfield. In conjunction with the Wethersfield Historical Society and the Keeney Memorial Museum and Cultural Center, in Old Wethersfield, the Keane Foundation has arranged for the exhibition entitled the "Prevailing Human Spirit" from the Museum of American Illustration in New York City. Chief among the goals of the Keane Foundation is to establish a youth-centered sports center in the town of Wethersfield, in a spirit befitting Richard M. Keane, one of of the victims of the 9/11 attack on America. Its motto is "A place where everyone can play, and everyone wins!" The Keeney Museum, with its ample parking, will provide the venue for the exhibition from its opening on February 16, 2002, Saturday, until its close on March 17, Sunday. Prevailing Human Spirit is a collaboration of international graphic artists in response to the 9/11/2001 terrorist destruction of the Twin Towers of World Trade Center in NYC. The artists' creations speak to the wounds created by this act of inhumanity and the courage needed to transcend it. At a special, benefit reception on Thursday evening, February 28, the new logo for the Keane Foundation will be officially unveiled. The logo, created by Tina Lynch of Creative Concepts, will be used in the communications of the Keane Foundation, including their website (www.KeaneFoundation.org). Ms Lynch is also know locally for her logo of Mikey's Place, a universally accessible playground in Standish Park, Old Wethersfield. The public is also encouraged to attend, view the exhibition and to contribute its support to the mission of the Keane Foundation. The benefit reception is to run from 6:00 - 9:00 PM, on that evening, February 28. The unveiling of the logo is scheduled for 7:00 PM.
