OUR FAITH IS OUR LIGHT

OUR FAITH IS OUR STRENGTH

OUR FAITH SHALL ENDURE

In the press release which preceded the vigil on 9/16/2001, the Keane family offered this message:

"... Our family would also like to express a message of peasce. In light of the recent events, the country has been overcome with emotions of anger and frustration. Retaliation against another country for this horrendous crime is not the answer. We do not want to be responsible for the suffering of innocent families in America or abroad. We do not want to have our families and friends forced to send loved ones off to war.

There as been an unspeakable crime committed in our country, and those responsible should pay the consequences of their actions, but let us not destroy the lives of the innocent. A war will only prolong our own suffering.

Our thoughts and prayers are with all the families and friends of the victims from New York City, Washington and Pennsylvania, and we'd like to thank everyone for their support in this difficult time. ...

The Dick Keane Family"

At the vigil the following songs
and hymns were sung by all:

"All Are Welcome"
"Be Not Afraid"
"Peace is Flowing"
"Amazing Grace"
"America the Beautiful"
"Let There Be Peace on Earth"

OUR MESSAGE IS LOVE

OUR MESSAGE IS STEADFASTNESS

Regarding the "Blanket of Hope," John Aforismo (baseball capped) related that:
He and his wife Shireen presented the "Blanket of Hope" to the family of Richard Keane (one of the still missing in the 1-9-11 Attack on America) after the ceremony. Mrs. (Judy) Keane decided to present the Blanket of Hope to our leaders and Congress people in Washington, DC, showing them that we in Wethersfield are looking for peace. The day after the evening ceremony, Mrs. Keane spoke with Gov. John Rowland who may personally present the Blanket in Washington. It is planned that the Blanket will be eventually returned to the Keane family. As John Aforismo noted, "...we are still talking about Sunday's vigil. What an evening."

Aforismo elaborates on the above report in a note to the editor of wethersfield.net

The Keane's have been instrumental in the newly formed "Keane Foundation" envisioned to be "a place where everyone can play, and everyone wins," a special community center for a special town in a special time.

You might want to stop by and take a look at http://www.keanefoundation.org/. Consider joining them in working toward their vision for our town.
