A Prayer of Dedication

on the opening of

Mikey's Place

Dearest Heavenly Father,

Thank you that you are here with us. Thank you for your love and mercy! You tell us in your Word that unless we become like little children we will not enter your kingdom, and today we all come to you as little children in spirit.

We are the family and friends of our special "Mikey". We are filled with so many emotions. We miss our son, grandson, brother, nephew, cousin, godson and friend. We will never stop missing him, Lord. We pray that you would continue to hold us tightly, the same request we had 3 years ago when Mikey went home to be with you. We need your continual strength and comfort.

But TODAY, Lord, we are filled with other emotions - those of joy and excitement, knowing that our dream has come true - "Mikey's Place", a happy place for every face, has come to be!! We thank you, God, for all you have provided through so many people to make this possible.

You also tell us in your Word, "Let the little children come to me and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these." We ask you, Father God, that all the children that come here to this "happy place" would be under your hand of protection. Keep everyone who comes to "Mikey's Place" safe. We ask that the love and peace of your Spirit would shine down upon this park for generations to come.

Thank you, Lord, that Mikey is sitting on your lap and swinging on your swings without backs, because he is completely healed with You. Thank you, Lord, that Mikey is smiling down on us and we will be reminded of his love in the rainbows, balloons, and butterflies in our midst.

And finally, Lord, we thank you for all of the friends and family here today on this special occasion. Bless them all, and especially Mary, Danny and Danielle. We pray with thankfulness in Jesus name - and all God's people say -

Amen!
