In the beginning....

There was a Void,
and the void was Grief,
and the grief was called Loss,
and the loss was called "Why",
and the "Why" was a child,
and the child was called Mikey.

Mikey was called home
to his heavenly Father,
leaving a void
in the hearts of his earthly
Father and Mother and
and Sister and loved ones.

And when the tears dried
and racing hearts were calmed,
and the Lord's will
was accepted,
love (which never left)
reappeared
and there came a Dream.

And the dream was without form
until the hearts,
and souls and minds
of his family decided
to rejoice in Mikey's
everlasting life
and to share his joy with
all children of all abilities.

And the sharing took form,
and the form was called
"Mikey's Place."
And Mikey's Place took planning
and planning and planning,
and contacting,
and calling,
and convincing,
and working,
and working and working,
for hours, days, weeks,
and months and years.

Until the Mikey's family,
relatives, friends, neighbors,
citizens of Wethersfield
and the region,
and even strangers
came together,
at Standish Park
in Olde Wethersfield,
for 6 days,
over 3 weekends,
in the Autumn of 2000
to build a memorial
playscape called
"Mikey's Place,
a happy place for every face!"

At 12:00 noon today,
November 23, 2000,
Thanksgiving Day,
that labor of love
will be shared
with the world.

Please come back
at that time and
many times thereafter
and rejoice.
